I offer tailored one-to-one dyslexia support sessions for children in the Cascais/Lisbon area, both in person and online. Utilizing the Orton-Gillingham Approach and other evidence-based strategies, I help children overcome reading, spelling, and writing difficulties associated with dyslexia.

The Orton-Gillingham Approach is a scientifically-proven method designed specifically for children with dyslexia and related learning challenges. This approach focuses on multisensory instruction, incorporating visual, auditory, and tactile senses to create an engaging learning experience for your child. Each session is structured, diagnostic, prescriptive, systematic, and personalized to meet the unique needs of your child.

In addition to supporting children with dyslexia, I am also available to help any child struggling with reading and spelling, or those not progressing at the expected rate for their grade or age level. Together, we can unlock your child's potential and improve their learning journey.

How does it work?

1. Initial Consultation with Parent(s)

Prior to working with your child, it is crucial that I have a meeting with you to gain insights into your child's specific challenges. This meeting serves as an opportunity for you to ask any questions, as well as for me to provide an overview of the program and its structure.

2. Assessment

In the initial sessions, I will conduct a thorough assessment of your child's phonemic and graphemic awareness, spelling proficiency, handwriting skills, and reading fluency and comprehension. This evaluation will serve as a benchmark for tailoring future sessions. The assessment process typically spans across four one-hour sessions.

3. Sessions & Feedback

Your child will receive Orton-Gillingham instruction during sessions lasting between 45 and 60 minutes. The frequency of sessions per week will be tailored to the unique needs and skill level of each child. To keep you informed about your child's progress, I will schedule meetings with you every three months to discuss the improvements made and any adjustments needed in the program.

Please be aware that, regrettably, my schedule is at capacity for the 2023-2024 academic year. However, I encourage you to reach out to me for any guidance or advice, as I am more than happy to assist you in any way I can.
